Vehicle-based radiation monitoring for mobile surveys

Eight detectors, one in-cabin display

A mobile monitoring team needed one cabin-mounted system to handle multiple gamma and neutron detectors during field surveys and emergency response. The Eight Channel Count Reader System brought it all into a single platform — per-channel rates, alarms, logging, and a centralized display.

What the team was up against

Mobile radiation surveillance needs fast situational awareness. Operators often have several detectors mounted on or inside a vehicle but no single point to see what's happening across all of them.

They needed:

  • Multi-detector input from one platform
  • Per-channel rate monitoring
  • Programmable integration time
  • Audio/visual alarms
  • A centralized in-vehicle display
  • Vehicle DC power compatibility
  • Logged readings for post-survey review

What we built

The Eight Channel Count Reader System gave operators up to eight detector inputs with pulse/TTL support, per-channel rate metering, programmable integration time, alarm generation, on-board logging, and a centralized display — all powered directly from the vehicle's DC supply.

Outcomes

One platform handling every detector signal

Live cabin visibility while the vehicle is moving

Suited to emergency response, perimeter checks, and environmental surveys

Logged readings to support post-survey review
